In Andhra Pradesh, work on the Rs 16,000 crore Polavaram project will begin in three months. The contract will go to a consortium consisting of China based CGGC and India's Soma Developers, who are leading in the bidding process, says reports. The project has the potential to bring over 4 lakh hectare of land under cultivation and generate 1,000 mw of hydel power.
