In order to make Indian shipbuilding yards competitive in the domestic and export markets in the 12th Plan period, the Central government plans to unveil a new policy. The policy is expected to focus on a strong ship repair industry, world class research and development facilities, design capabilities and ancillary base for commercial ship building.
