Trade unions at Cochin Port in Kerala urged the port management to revive operations at the Rajiv Gandhi Container Terminal and retaining of cargo handling at Cochin port itself.

The coordination committee of various trade unions at the Cochin Port took out a protest march to the Port Trust office raising various demands. The unions organised a dharna in front of the port office.

The march, which began from the Harbour Terminus Railway Station premises, was blocked by the police in front of the office of the Port Trust.

CITU All India Secretary MM Lawrence said the unions cannot accept the port management introducing priorities in its mandate.
