Government plans to attract private investment in coal mining projects and in this regard an inter-ministerial group would prepare a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for the sector. Involvement of private sector in coal mining is expected to boost production of the fuel and reduce dependence on imports. The PMO has asked the group to urgently finalise the modalities of the PPP framework.
