The government is seeking to shore up investor confidence in the ports sector by agreeing to allow private firms setting up container terminals to change their cargo profile either permanently or as a stop-gap measure to deal with circumstances that have rendered their facilities idle. The latest such case involves a new container loading facility being built by the Mumbai-based Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd.
