In a first of its kind in India, Visakhapatnam Port Trust has installed Radiological Detection System worth Rs 1.25 crore at East Quay-7 in order to screen entry of vehicles with radioactive contamination. With this, the port has also complied the Shipping Ministry´s mandatory directive of introducing such facility for all ports. The system is meant for preventing vehicles, carrying radioactive substances.
