Rail freight corridor operator the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) has initiated rail car movement on the Vaitarna-Kharbo section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).
The launch featured an official inspection by DFCCIL’s leadership to assess operational readiness. The exercise evaluated rail car compatibility with corridor infrastructure, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with technical standards.
The Vaitarna–Kharbo stretch is scheduled for commissioning in August, forming a critical link in the final 110 km of the WDFC, delayed previously due to seasonal and construction challenges.
During the visit, DFCCIL Managing Director Praveen Kumar reviewed key infrastructure works, including earthwork, track alignment, and civil progress. He expressed satisfaction with execution quality and urged teams to maintain momentum toward commissioning targets.
