During April-June, Indian Railways has carried 256.79 million tonne (mt) of freight traffic as against 244.81 mt carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.89 per cent. During June, the freight traffic carried by the Railways was 84.95 mt. This is an increase of 4.52 mt over the actual freight traffic of 80.43 mt carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, an increase of 5.62 per cent.
