In Tamil Nadu, the failure of the southwest monsoon has dealt a severe blow to the state’s hydroelectric power units, reducing energy generation by 33 per cent of their combined capacity. Tamil Nadu is facing a severe power crisis and was able to supply only 77,102 mu of power last financial year though the demand was 87,000 mu.
