In Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram, as part of the monorail project the 9.53-km stretch on the national highway linking the IT hub of Kazhakkoottam with Kesavadasapuram will be developed for four-lane traffic.
This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by the State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Land acquisition and road widening are expected to cumulatively cost Rs 550 crore. National Transport Planning and Research Centre, an autonomous body under the Government, has prepared estimates as well as a project report.
Based on these, works needed to be taken up at the earliest on this project, the Chief Minister directed officials who attended the meeting.
