Kerala Public Works Department (PWD) officials have said that the relaying of MG Road’s stretch from South Junction to Madhava Pharmacy Junction in Kochi could not be delayed since it would lead to widespread criticism.
But, the PWD’s road relaying at a cost of Rs 6 crore may go waste if the work is done without knowing whether it would be dug up soon for the Kochi Metro project.
PA Hashim, PWD Superintendent engineer said that the PWD can’t delay the relaying inordinately without having any clear information about the Metro project. Earlier, the department had to postpone the Kerala State transport project, inviting criticism from several quarters.
