With 33 years of engineering experience, Ahmad assumes leadership as RVNL transitions to a global infrastructure developer.

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), the state‑owned diversified infrastructure company under the Ministry of Railways, has announced the appointment of Saleem Ahmad as its new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD).

Prior to this role, Ahmad was serving as Director, Projects, at NBCC (India). A civil engineer with over 33 years of experience in the construction industry, he has held key leadership positions including Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and senior roles at the Mumbai Port Trust. His expertise spans the execution of large, multidimensional infrastructure projects covering bridges, tunnels, and residential and commercial buildings.

Ahmad has also presented papers on sustainable infrastructure and urban mobility at national and international forums. During his long association with DMRC, he played a significant role in designing and implementing last‑mile connectivity solutions.

A 1990‑batch civil engineering graduate from Jamia Millia Islamia University, Ahmad assumes leadership at a pivotal moment. The 22‑year‑old company is transitioning from a rail‑focused enterprise to a comprehensive global infrastructure developer, aligned with its vision of “From Rail Infra to All Infra.”

In recent years, RVNL has diversified into urban rail transit and is currently executing metro projects in about ten cities. It also recently signed an agreement with the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) for infrastructure development projects worth ₹5.35 billion, reinforcing its expanding footprint beyond railways.
