The Ministry of Mines had organised the first National Conclave on Mines & Minerals on 4-5 July 2016 at Raipur jointly with the Government of Chhattisgarh. It was an astounding success, owing to overwhelming support of all stakeholders of the mining industry. All the participants expressed great satisfaction on the organisation and outcome of the conclave.

After the first conclave, several new initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of Mines, such as launch of Star Rating Scheme, Mining Surveillance System, scheme to attract private explorers, etc. The implementation of these initiatives requires harmonisation of understanding of all the regulatory bodies and the mining industry. This called for intensive and wide interaction between all stakeholders.

The mining sector has a pivotal role to play in the ‘Make in India’ vision of the Prime Minister. With the anticipated growth of the Indian economy in the years to come, there will be a renewed thrust in the infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, which would only be possible by way of ensuring timely supply of minerals, which form their basic raw materials.

Due to the great success of the first National Mining Conclave on Mines & Minerals, the Ministry of Mines is organising the 2nd National Mining Conclave on Mines & Minerals in New Delhi on 15th February, 2017. The conclave will provide an effective platform to enable intensive discussion among various stakeholders, viz., the representatives of Central ministries, state governments, mining industries, industry associations, financial & academic institutions and others, on the issues, challenges and opportunities in the mining sector.
