Several infrastructure projects in Mumbai are delayed because of various reasons including the lack of co-ordination between Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Therefore, some experts argue that these infrastructure projects must be implemented by only one agency.

The Rs 9,630-cr Sewri-Nhava Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project faced two failed rounds of tendering under the MSRDC earlier. Following this, the project was handed over to MMRDA.

Even after the decision was taken, the MSRDC asked MMRDA to pay Rs 25 crore if it wanted access to any of the studies on the project conducted by the former.

MMRDA is reportedly not getting assistance from the
the state government for land acquisition and rehabilitation of people for the project.

In another instance, the Rs 400-crore Thane creek bridge has been delayed as the cash-strapped MSRDC requested MMRDA to allocate funds for the construction of project. But assistance from MMRDA is not forthcoming.

Some officials opine that the Thane creek bridge expansion would be a competitive project for MTHL and could divert some ridership, leaving potential bidders uneasy.
