In a communication to stock exchange, Steel Exchange India has commissioned a 50 mw boiler and turbines at its Captive Power Plant at Kothavalasa in Andhra Pradesh.
This is part of the 60 mw captive power plant being set up by Simhadri Power, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) promoted by the company.
The company expects to commission the balance 10 mw from waste heat recovery by February’ 2013. Simhadri Power (SPL) will supply 51 percent of the power generated for captive consumption by the units of the company as per the arrangement entered by the company with SPL and the balance will be exported through merchant sale. With this the company will have substantial savings in costs apart from assured supply of power.
