The first super-critical thermal power plant of 660 MW capacity of BHEL – Western Region, at NTPC Mouda plant, is now ready for commercial operation. It has completed the stringent statutory requirement of continuous running for 72 hours at full load (MCR) without a single tripping. The testing was completed in the wee hours of January 5, 2017.

super-critical boiler, turbine and generator (BTG) set of BHEL, Western Region.
BHEL, a Maharatna company of the Government of India, had secured orders for 2×660 MW coal-fired thermal power sets from NTPC for its Mouda plant in 2011.
The unit was synchronised and achieved full load in a record time of 35 months in March 2016. But due to various technical reasons, it could not be made operational commercially. With the availability of the unit, the power situation in the Western Region will further improve and industries and commercial establishments of the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will be immensely benefitted.
