DWC PE piping system: Superior to conventional piping
The double wall corrugated (DWC) polyethylene piping system has been globally designated as a major instrument in non-pressure (gravity flow) conÂveyance of wastewater/storm draiÂnage/industrial effÂluent especially in renewal and extension of urban infrastructure. On the strength of its inherent physical, chemical, hydrÂaulic, structural and environment-friendly properties, the DWC HDPE piping system overcomes the shortÂcomings of all the other alternatives. The prolonged life cycle, lightness, ease in handling and stacking, fast instaÂllation, and zero-maintenance makes it far superior to conventional piping systems. The applicability gains more significance for its eco-friendly and socio-envirÂonmental aspects, partiÂcularly in the renewal process of urban clusters of haphÂazardly grown Indian metropolis.
By virtue of its flexibility and interlocking jointing system comprehensive connection tightness is mainÂtained, which minimises the infiltration of groundÂwater even in adverse bedding contour. Hence, the allowance for groundwater infiltration in hydraulic design becomes redundant.
Good flexibility, minimal founÂdation requirement, no seasonal or temperature constraints in laying, light in weight, ease in handling, transportation and stacking proÂvides numerous tangible and intangible benefits for proÂjects as well as for the immediate social environment. The time taken for installation of underÂground facilities is direÂctly linked with the degree of discomfort of city dwellers, more so for the sensitive core urban clusters.
The life expectancy of the DWC HDPE piping system is over 100 years and has already been time tested for 50 years. This product has been approved by the Central Government (CPHEEO dept) for use in sewerage and drainage applications.
