The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has decided to issue tax-free bonds worth Rs 1,000 crore in the current financial year to finance and develop small airports in the country. AAI's move comes days after the government's decision to construct 51 low-cost airports across the country. It would strengthen the financial position of AAI to build these airports,' AAI Chairman V P Aggarwal said in Delhi.

AAI’s budget cut to hit airport development in Northeast
The airport development programme in Northeast India will hit by the cut in the Airport Authority of India's (AAI) budgetary support, stated a Parliamentary panel of Rajya Sabha. The department related parliamentary standing committee on transport, tourism and culture has in its recently submitted report stated that budgetary support in the form of grants-in-aid provided to AAI in annual plan 2013-14 is Rs 42 crore.
