Land transportation was a cash-driven sector as it is a very fragmented and unorganised sector. Transition to a Â´plastic economyÂ´ would obviously remove hidden costs. This is a cultural change.
The warehousing sector has seen minimal growth in India during the past decade or so. However, the last four-five years have been eventful for the sector which has witnessed a tremendous surge in business activities and foreign investments.
India, due to its long coastline, is richly endowed with natural maritime advantages. The countrys 7,500 km coastline covers 13 states and Union Territories. A number of ports along the long coastline lie along key international trade routes. There is huge potential even for inland water transport.
