Assocham sees huge potential for shipbuilding biz
Industry body in India, Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has expected a huge potential for ship repairing and shipbuilding business in the country. According to Assocham, more than 20-year-old ships require periodic and extensive repair and maintenance and, in India, of the total 1,122 vessels in the fleet, over 41 per cent are over 20 years old and need regular attention.

According to a study by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) Andhra Pradesh (AP) ranks first in value terms in port projects that are in under construction in public-private partnership mode as of April 30, followed by Maharashtra. The study titled 'Port Developments in India' says Kerala stands first in value terms in port projects under bidding stage, followed by Maharashtra again.
AP commands lion’s share in ports sector: Assocham study
According to a study by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) Andhra Pradesh commands the lion's share of over 46 per cent with three projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore under construction in ports sector under PPP model. Odisha accounts for second highest share of about 17 per cent in value terms in ports sector.
Gujarat has half of completed PPP projects in ports sector
A study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) shows Gujarat has 12 completed public private partnership (PPP) projects worth over Rs 12,400 crore in the port sector as of April 30, 2013. The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has said that Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra together have over 50 per cent share in the road projects being undertaken in the country.
Maharashtra has most operational toll roads: Study
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has stated that Maharashtra has 21 road projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore under operation in public-private partnership (PPP) mode as of August.
Uttar Pradesh has over 15 road projects (33 per cent) worth over Rs 55,000 crore under construction and Karnataka has 53 road projects (49 per cent) worth over Rs 25,000 crore under bidding, the apex industry body added.
