In Bangalore, rentals of high-end villas have dropped over the past year, as leasing deals from the expat community have almost halved and supply of units has increased. BBMP takes up Magadi Road stretch for asphalting
A stretch on Magadi Main Road in Bangalore is being closed for repairs. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is taking up asphalting of Magadi Main Road, which is in a bad shape. The stretch between Hunasemara junction and Prasanna Circle will be closed for the repairs.
BHEL starts steam turbine generator unit in Ethiopia
Government-owned BHEL said it has commissioned its first steam turbine and generator (STG) unit at a power plant in Ethiopia of Africa. The steam turbine generator set of 12 MW capacity has been commissioned at the Finchaa Sugar Factory for the plant's own use, it said.The company said that the plant will supply process steam and power to the sugar factory and the excess power will be supplied to the Ethiopian Electricity Power Company.
India, US join hands to develop solar energy
An initiative has been jointly taken by India and the United States to develop solar energy through photovoltaic (PV) projects and concentrated solar power (CSP), also known as solar thermal. This comes four months after India experienced one of the worldÂ’s biggest blackouts, which affected more than 680 million people.
Titled ‘SERIIUS’ (Solar Energy Research Initiative of India and the United States), the $50 million project would be conducted by the Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Science
Govt prepares waste management plan
Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar prepared plans to set up a modern and scientific waste management system in Bangalore. The plan, which aims to set up one processing unit in each of Bangalore’s 28 assembly constituencies, aims to decentralize waste processing in the long-term.
