Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra signed the Ordinance which would allow state government to acquire land for the Rs 880 crore Bhatinda-Srinagar gas pipeline project. The project, which involves laying of the 750-kilometer gas pipeline from Bhatinda in Punjab to Srinagar via Jammu, is scheduled for completion in three years. Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) received contract for the project in June 2011

Punjab power projects raise environment concerns
Environment minister Jairam Ramesh has expressed concern over the proposed locations of as many as four thermal power plants in a 50 km radius around Bathinda, which already has two thermal stations.
PSPCL, Lanco signs MoU
Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lanco Infratech to set up a 1,320 MW (2x660 MW) supercritical technology based thermal plant at Bathinda.
