HPCL, GAIL sign pact with AP for Rs.40,000-crore petro project

HPCL and GAIL India Ltd have signed a pact with Andhra Government for setting up a Rs 40,000 crore petrochemical plant in the state. The 50:50 joint venture will set up a 1.5 MT ethylene derivatives plant, which will produce a wide range of petrochemical raw materials for the manufacture of detergents, paints and coatings, cosmetics, textiles and adhesives.

GAIL plans to raise Rs 750 crore through bonds issue

GAIL (India) Ltd is planning to raise Rs 750 crore in bonds via private placement to finance its ongoing projects. The company has decided to issue non-convertible bonds of up to Rs 750 crore with an option to double the issue size via private placement in one or more tranches, GAIL said in a statement.

GAIL Chairman BC Tripathi said on July 25 that the company needs to buy 13 cargoes this fiscal year to March out of its planned 34. GAIL received 7 cargoes in the first quarter of the fiscal year, Tripathi said. He added that contracts for 21 cargoes have already been finalised.

India in talks with Pak to export natural gas via pipeline

To export natural gas to Pakistan through a pipeline from its Punjab state, India is in talks with the neighbouring country to help it overcome crippling energy shortage. India's State gas utility GAIL has proposed to lay a 110-km pipeline from Jalandhar to Wagah border via Amritsar to supply natural gas to Pakistan, GAIL Chairman and Managing Director BC Tripathi has said.

GAIL commissions 5-mn t LNG terminal

BC Tripathi, Chairman, Gail India, informed that it has commissioned the 5 million to­nne (mn t) capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Dabhol facility in Maharashtra.
He also informed that the firm plans to double its capacity by 2016 in a phased manner. Initially, the firm would focus on completing construction of break-water facility, which will help in expanding the terminal's capacity to 7.5 mmtpa in next two years and finally to 10 mmtpa in 2016.
