Spectrum auction nets Rs 14,000 crore as deposits
Seven telecom operators have deposited Rs 14,653 crore as earnest money for the largest spectrum auction from October 1. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has said that Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone can bid in any spectrum band in any of the telecom circles in the country.
Airtel completes Rs.4,428 cr deal with Videocon Telecom
Bharti Airtel has said that it has completed the Rs.4,428 crore deal with Videocon Telecommunications Ltd (VTL) to acquire the latter´s spectrum in six circles. In March, Bharti Airtel and VTL had entered into a definitive agreement, wherein, Airtel proposed to acquire the rights to use 2X5 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band allotted to VTL for an aggregate consideration of Rs.4,428 crore.
Bharti Airtel to sell 950 towers in Congo
Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement with Helios Towers Africa (HTA) for divestment of about 950 towers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The deal will help Airtel deleverage through debt reduction and reduced capital expenditure, though the size was not disclosed.
