Power Ministry cancels UMPP bids
The Ministry of Power has decided to cancel the two-year-long bidding process for two ultra mega power plants (UMPPs) in Tamil Nadu and Odisha. The decision comes in the wake of private companies pulling out of the process, with public sector units NTPC and NHPC emerging as the only bidders.

India has called bids for solar plants. To build 750 megawatts of solar plants, India is offering Rs 18.75 billion ($303 million) grants, say media reports. The bids are due by November 29, State-run Solar Energy Corp. of India said on its website.
Kerala to re-tender Azhikkal port project

Visakhapatnam Port has revised plans to finalise bids for extension of the existing container terminal at a cost of Rs 633 crore.
After scrapping the Letter of Award issued to Visakha Container Terminal to extend existing terminal following serious differences over sharing of revenue, the board of trustee of the port decided at its recent meeting to issue Request for Proposals (RFP) among seven firms who were declared qualified.

New Mangalore port receives 9 bids for building new berth
Nine bids have been received by the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) for the construction of berth handling bulk cargo and containers. September 5 was the last date for submitting the bids. Nine companies have submitted the bids and the proposed berth will handle bulk cargo and containers.
