HC asks Maha govt to ban construction on wetlands
The Maharashtra government has been directed by the Bombay High Court on October 14 to issue a circular to all civic bodies to ensure that no construction or reclamation is permitted on wetlands in Maharashtra. A division bench of Justice VM Kanade and Justice SC Gupte also directed the government to state if it will adopt the Centre's wetland atlas as its brief document.
PMC submits report to HC on condition of roads
Recommending to improve roads in Pune city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has prepared a policy note and submitted the same report to the Bombay High Court. The High Court had asked the PMC to submit the report, following a public interest litigation (PIL) on the poor condition of roads in Pune.
HC asks Thane TMC to complete road projects
The Bombay High Court has chided the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)recently for not undertaking road projects approved in the city development plan. The PIL came up for hearing before a division bench of Justices Ajay Khanvikar and AP Bhangle who then directed the TMC to take up the issue with the departments concerned and resolve it within two weeks.
