Madurai gets new bridges, roads to ease mobility
The Tamil Nadu government's decision to construct bridges roads in Madurai and its suburbs will aid in preventing road mishaps and easing traffic jams. At a a three-day annual conference of collectors and police officers in Chennai last week the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced this.

Arunachal gets Rs 819 cr worth road projects
To improve road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union government has approved a network of roads and bridges at a cost of Rs 819 crore. The Union Rural Development Ministry's decision in this regard comes just ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Beijing and it emphasises the strategic importance of the bordering state over parts of which China lays claim.
Odisha plans to build 4,227.69 km rural roads
Odisha government has submitted the Centre a project proposal of Rs 2112.72 crore and Rs 595.72 crore for construction of 4,227.69 km of roads and 140 bridges respectively under the Pradhanmanthri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the current 2013-14 financial year.
Kerala gets Rs 174 cr Nabard aid for roads
To build 23 roads and four bridges in Kerala, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 174 crore to the State Public Works Department (PWD), said the Kerala PWD Minister VK Ebrahim Kunju. Nabard sanctioned the sum in Mumbai recently.
Six road projects in Manipur to be funded by ADB
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned Rs 1,800 crore for development of roads and bridges in Manipur. The proposal for development of six roads has been sent to ADB. Some of these road project include 110-km long Imphal-Moreh Road on NH-2; 85-km long road from Imphal to Wangjing, Heirok and Khudengthabi; 34-km long ring road in Greater Imphal and road from Imphal to Kangchup.
Foundation stone for Rs 33 bn worth projects laid in UP
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav laid foundation stone for infrastructural projects worth over Rs 3,300 crore. These include Rs 2,200 crore roads and bridges projects, besides power transmission and distribution projects worth over Rs 1,100 crore. Odisha to build 200 more bridges under Biju Setu scheme
In Odisha, the State government would build 200 more bridges in the state at a cost of Rs 700 crore in this current fiscal. The government on July 20 announced that the bridges would be built under the Biju Setu Yojana. The State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, at meeting decided that the bridges would be built on 111 rural development and 82 panchayat roads. The tender process would be completed by October.
BMC to construct 4 new bridges, revamp eight
In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to build four bridges and revamp eight. While some in eastern suburbs will be newly built, others in the city will be rebuilt. In the island city, while the junction between Sion-Bandra Link Road and Saint Rohidas Marg, Mahim Causeway above Mithi River and near Mithi river in Dharavi will be revamped, a new flyover is being planned to connect Senapati Bapat Marg and Western Express Highway.
