The Union Shipping Minister, GK Vasan said that an investment of Rs 2.77 lakh crore will be required in the next ten years to enhance the cargo handling capacity at Indian ports to 3,130 million tonne.
Gujarat to develop new ports

NMPT clocks 4.81 per cent rise
The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) registered a growth of 4.81 per cent in overall cargo handling in the first three months of 2011-12 owing to a rise in the handling of coal, LPG, crude oil and container cargoes among others.
