The company would also support power plant owners in India in modernising their installations. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has empanelled the international provider of testing and certification services as a renovation and modernisation (R&M) consultant for thermal power plants.

BHEL to execute govt power projects overseas
Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) will be entrusted with the task of executing all overseas power projects financed by the Union Government. In addition to that the Union Heavy Industries Ministry will high preference to BHEL while procuring spares and services for its foreign power projects.
Rs 43,000-cr Green Corridor project for renewable energy
To flow renewable energy into the national grid the Union Government plans to roll out a Rs 43,000 crore green energy corridor project. The blueprint for the project has already been submitted to the Power Ministry by Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).

India suffers over 11% power generation loss
A Central Electricity Authority review has said that India suffered a power generation loss of over 11.46 per cent, in 2011-12, on account of fuel shortage, transmission bottlenecks and an equipment proÂblem. All India electricity
generation in the country during 2011-12 has been at 876.89 bu. The increased forÂced outages were due to incÂreased forced shutdown of units due to coal supply problem and transmission constrÂaints and equipment problems of some new units, the CEA report said.
CIL Price Pooling
Following the rejection of the model proposed by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for price pooling of imported coal, Coal India (CIL) is in the process of preparing a new model. Reports suggest that the company would fine tune the model proposed by CEA to include all possible scenarios.
