The Eastern Freeway in Mumbai has been very useful to commuters, but it has also added to the bottleneck at Panjrapole junction in Chembur. To avoid this, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) now plans to ease the congestion at Panjrapole junction in Chembur by building an additional flyover.

Mumbai’s Eastern Freeway opened
First phase of the Eastern Freeway of Mumbai city was inaugurated by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. The cost for the first phase of the Eastern Freeway is stated to be at Rs 847-crore.
South Mumbai to Chembur in 15 mins via freeway
By the end of this month, commuter will be able to zip to Chembur from south Mumbai in about 15 minutes. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will open a portion of the Eastern Freeway from Orange Gate to Panjarpol. The remaining part up to Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR) will be opened early next year.
Tata Power to modernise Trombay thermal plant
Tata Power has proposed modernisation of its 500 MW Unit 6 at Trombay Thermal Power Station. The plan includes addition of coal firing equipment and installation of pollution control equipment
to make the unit work on coal, oil and gas, wherein all three fuels can be combined in any percentage.
This is being done to control spiralling oil cost, the company said. The proposed modernisation will improve utilisation of full capacity of 500 MW. It will also reduce fuel cost and help lower tariffs
