The venture will involve the installation of rooftop and ground mounted solar PV plants at 12 Metro stations and the Koyambedu Maintenance depot in Chennai, providing low-cost and renewable solar energy for CMRLÂ’s operations.

Today the Chennai Metro Rail Project (Phase I) underground section from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park was inaugurated. The newly constructed underground stretch covers a distance of 7.4 km between Thirumangalam and Nehru Park comprising of five important stations; Anna Nagar Tower, Anna Nagar East, Shenoy Nagar, PachayappaÂ’s College and Kilpauk Medical College.

On his last official working day in Delhi Metro, E Sreedharan was busy helping Chennai Metro learn key lessons.Counted as one the best technocrat managers, the country has had, the 79-year old Sreedharan will hand over the reins of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), to his successor and colleague Mangu Singh, on Saturday evening. Singh oversaw the implementation of high-speed Airport Express line.
