The Ministry of Civil Aviation will take up the privatisation of six major airports only after the elections, according to a top official in the ministry. A parliamentary panel had opposed the government's decision of privatising six airports in Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Guwahati. The government had decided to allow private parties to pick up 100 per cent equity stake in operation and management of these airports.

Madurai gets new bridges, roads to ease mobility
The Tamil Nadu government's decision to construct bridges roads in Madurai and its suburbs will aid in preventing road mishaps and easing traffic jams. At a a three-day annual conference of collectors and police officers in Chennai last week the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced this.
Air Costa to launch flights from Hyd on Dec 10
Regional airline from Andhra Pradesh Air Costa is starting its operation from Hyderabad from this December 10. Air Costa was launched in October by the LEPL Group. The airline is to operate flights from Hyderabad to Chennai, Vijayawada, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

Work to begin on world-class road projects in Chennai
On laying world-class roads in Chennai, the preliminary work will soon to begin by the Chennai Corporation. The Corporation will issue tenders for starting work on four of these major road projects.
Ennore-Manali road work delayed in Chennai
In Chennai, the Rs 600 crore Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project (EMÂRIP) would miss the DeceÂmber deadline for its completion due to some hindrances. EMRIP was proposed in 1998, which envisages improvement of about 30 km road network in North Chennai to ease flow of truck traffic from CheÂnnai and Ennore ports and improve road connectivity between ports to national highway network.
Sanmar to raise Rs 250 cr to cut its debt
To cut its promoters' debt and expand its chemical business, Chennai-based chemicals-to engineering conglomerate Sanmar group will raise Rs 250 crore from American private equity fund Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR).
