India plans to invest $120 billion in airport infrastructure: President
India is planning to invest over $120 billion in the development of airport infrastructure and aviation navigation services over the next decade, said President Pranab Mukherjee
100 low-cost airports in 2 years
To increase air connectivity to tier-II and tier-III cities in the country, the Union Government has decided to set up 50 new low-cost airports this year and 50 next year. The government is striving to achieve this within the deadline set up by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
India to have 51 new low-cost airports
To develop civil aviation sector and increase air connectivity to Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India, the Union government on June 28 decided to set up 51 new low-cost airports. The State-owned airport operator, Airports Authority of India (AAI), would set up the low-cost airports in 51 cities in 10 states
Ajit Singh says Indian aviation sector is reviving
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said on March 17 that various government policy measures for the civil aviation sector have begun to yield results and the airline industry in India is witnessing a revival. On account of these policies, the general aviation business would emerge as a key driver of regional connectivity and economic development, he said.
