Jindal Steel secures coal for Chhattisgarh plant
Jindal Steel and Power has said that it has secured coal supply of 1.18 million tonnes per year (MTPA) for five years for its 540 134 MW captive power generation plants in Dongamahua and Raigarh in Chhattisgarh
Railways rationalises coal tariff
The Railways has rationalised coal tariff by reducing the rate for long-distance transportation and increasing it for short distance while imposing Rs 110 per ton coal terminal surcharge at loading and unloading for distance beyond 100 km.
Railway stations turn to solar energy
In order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the Ministry of Railways has planned to harness 1,000 MW of solar power through developer mode by putting up solar plants on railway buildings/stations and through land-based plants across the country.
Rs.2,237-cr revenue generated from 74 coal mines
Revenue of around Rs.2,237 crore has already been generated till May-end from the allocation of 74 coal mines, Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal said in a reply to Rajya Sabha. The estimated revenue from the e-auction of 31 coal mines is Rs.1,96,689 crore, he added.
We are mechanising all our mines for better turnaround time
The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is targeting coal production of 1.5 billion tonnes. Of this one billion tonnes will come from Coal India Limited (CIL) and the remaining 500 million tonnes will come from non-CIL sources, particularly from the mines that are presently being auctioned or allocated to non-Coal India entities.
EESL signs MoU with TERI
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has entered into a strategic partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) for two years. The MoU was signed between the two parties in the presence of Union Minister of State (IC) Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal.

Odisha has confirmed 10 per cent equity participation in the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Indian Port Rail Corporation Ltd (IPRCL) that will be formed for development of a heavy haul rail corridor from Salegaon to Paradip port.
