The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) was set up in 1986. Since then till 2008, only five waterways could be declared as National Waterways. Work could be started on only three of them: National Waterway or NW-1 that is the Ganga National Waterway, NW-2 that is the Brahmaputra Waterway and NW-3 comprising the backwaters of Kerala.

Cochin Shipyard to build 4 catamarans: Gadkari
All set for its maiden foray into catamaran manufacturing, Cochin Shipyard will build four such popular vessels, used for cruising and other purposes. This is for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said.

CSL delivers FPV to Coast Guard
Cochin Shipyard (CSL) recently delivered the sixth of the series of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPV) being built for the Indian Coast Guard. The Protocol of delivery and acceptance was signed by Vinayakumar P, Director (Technical), on behalf of CSL and Commanding Officer (Designate) of the vessel Cmdt (JG) Umed Singh of Indian Coast Guard.
Cochin Shipyard commissions fast patrol vessel
Cochin Shipyard-built Aadesh vessel, the first of the series of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPV) for the Indian Coast Guard, was commissioned in Kochi last week. Two ships of the class have been delivered to the Coast Guard and the third would also be delivered by the end of the month, the Cochin Shipyard said.
Cochin Shipyard pays dividend for the 5th year
A dividend of Rs 16.99 crore has been paid by the Cochin Shipyard (CSL) to the Union government on October 23. This is the company's fifth consecutive year paying the dividend. The dividend consists of Rs 1.5 per Equity Share on the 11,32,80,000 fully paid equity shares of Rs 10 each.
1st fast patrol vessel joins coast guard duty
The Cochin Shipyard built fast patrol vessel (FPV) has been delivered to the India Coast Guard (ICG) to strengthen coastal security. The FPV is the first of the 20 vessel series of Cochin Shipyard (CSL), a public sector undertaking.

Media reports indicate that Cochin Shipyard (CSL) would invest almost Rs 2,000 crore towards its capacity expansion plan in the coming years by raising funds through an initial public offering (IPO). The company would raise part of the funds needed for this investment through the proposed IPO. The capacity expansion plan of the firm is part of its ambition to become a leading international shipbuilding and repair yard.
ONGC set to award vessel contract to Cochin Shipyard
