The transformation of India´s roads seems to be a reality now. In February this year, the government pledged to invest Rs 80,000 crore in the sector in the Budget. And now the target is to award 10,000 km by March 2016.

For constructing concrete roads in its wards, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to spend Rs 13 crore in the ensuing fiscal. BMC has lately focused on repair and construction of the road network under it. It has around 1,400 km of internal and a few major roads under it. Most of the roads in the city are either being constructed or repaired.
Sreedharan suggests concrete roads for cities

Odisha to build concrete roads in villages at Rs 1,870 cr
The Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das has stated that the State government will spend about Rs 1,870 crore on construction of concrete roads in all gram panchayats in the next three years. The government will spend Rs 623.60 crore per annum for the next three years for making pucca roads in all gram panchayats.
