Centre commences work on 6 greenfield airports
The Government of India has granted 'in principle' approval for setting up of 15 greenfield airports across the country out of which, physical work at 6 airports namely, Gulbarga, Hassan, Shimoga in Karnataka, Durgapur in West Bengal, Pakyong in Sikkim and Shirdi in Maharashtra, has already commenced, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal told the Lok Sabha last week. Construction at various airports in the country including Aranmula airport project has not stopped, he added.
Toll plaza on Delhi-Gurgaon highway may be removed
The toll plaza between Delhi and Gurgaon on the national highway is likely to be removed. The toll plaza has become contentious as users had to wait for long, resulting in traffic block. This also led to an intervention by the Punjab High Court last year. This was one of the options discussed in a meeting held between Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the Union Road Transport Minister CP Joshi in Delhi recently.

World Bank stresses on energy policy revolution
The World Bank on April 17 asked countries to create a viable energy investment climate. The multilateral lending agency is pitching for a revolution in the global energy policy. Now, Delhi to have one-legged elevated roads
In a first, 24.2 metre-wide elevated roads will be constructed in Delhi on a single narrow column using the single-pier technique. In this, six lanes of traffic will move on top, while four lanes will be open at the ground level as well. These elevated flyways are being built on outer Ring Road and Ring Road, and will help avoid traffic congestion at the ground level, say officials.
