In Chennai, the Rs 600 crore Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project (EMÂRIP) would miss the DeceÂmber deadline for its completion due to some hindrances. EMRIP was proposed in 1998, which envisages improvement of about 30 km road network in North Chennai to ease flow of truck traffic from CheÂnnai and Ennore ports and improve road connectivity between ports to national highway network.

ChPT seeks NHAI’s assistance in road project
Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) has reportedly approached National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to facilitate the reclamation of a stretch of land to carry out the Ennore-Manali Road Improvement Project (EMRIP). The project has been stranded for several months because fishermen refuse to provide a portion of land which passes through Kasimedu Fishing

The decade-old Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project (EMRIP) will be completed by the year-end, according to Highways Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. After missing several deadlines, the Rs 600-crore project was launched by Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan in January 2011.
