Ennore-Manali road work delayed in Chennai

In Chennai, the Rs 600 crore Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project (EM­RIP) would miss the Dece­mber deadline for its completion due to some hindrances. EMRIP was proposed in 1998, which envisages improvement of about 30 km road network in North Chennai to ease flow of truck traffic from Che­nnai and Ennore ports and improve road connectivity between ports to national highway network.

The decade-old Ennore Manali Road Improvement Project (EMRIP) will be completed by the year-end, according to Highways Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. After missing several deadlines, the Rs 600-crore project was launched by Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan in January 2011.
