Schindler India, leading providers of escalators and elevators, a 100% owned subsidiary of Schindler Group is set to invest Rs 170 crore to expand its manufacturing facilities by setting up IndiaÂ’s first Escalator manufacturing line and towards improving its Research and development facilities at its plant near Chakan in Pune.

India has 4,786 rail stations with more than 2 platforms
In the country, the total number of railway stations having two or more platforms are 4786. So far, 56 railway stations have been equipped with 153 escalators including Metro Railway Kolkata and suburban section of Chennai, said the Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha recently.
