Gujarat signs Rs 67 k cr MoU for Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project
The Gujarat government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 67,000 crore with the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit for component manufacturing for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project.
Infrastructure, business-friendly policies keep Gujarat ahead in exports
Gujarat, widely acknowledged as the most business-friendly state in India, figures among the top five states that account for 69 per cent of the countryÂ’s total export earnings. It is also among two states, the other being Maharashtra, that together account for more than 46 per cent of the merchandise consignments from the country.
Maharashtra to set up NBFC
The mounting debt of Rs 3 lakh crore reeling over Maharashtra is a cause of concern for its finance minister. Further, an interest payment of Rs 26 crore per day is a worry factor too.
Guj govt unable to start gas production
The Gujarat Government has admitted in the Legislative Assembly that it was facing several technical difficulties in its oil and gas exploration project in Krishna-Godavari basin, leading to delay in start of commercial production.
DSIR project to get new thrust
Significant developments is expected shortly in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) as the Delhi Mumbai-Industrial Corridor Corporation (DMICDC) Trust, the Government of India´s nodal agency for the execution of the DMIC project has agreed to pump in Rs 3,000 crore for infrastructure development at the SIR, mainly for flood control in the area.
Power from waste
By setting up solid waste management plants, the Gujarat government will run a pilot project in 50 cities to generate power, fertiliser and reusable water, said the state Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The state's rural areas will get the power, reusable water and fertilisers produced in these plants for usage in agriculture. Gujarat government will work with Japanese agencies for development of some of these plants by utilising cutting edge technology from Japan, the CM added.
60 MW power from rooftops
Within the next three years, the Gujarat government plans to generate 60 MW power from rooftops of over 30,000 houses. Apart from houses, solar panels of about 20 mw capacity will be laid on the Narmada irrigation canal and solar-power high-speed pumps will be provided to farmers for irrigation in Gujarat.
Gujarat govt seeks cut in tariffs for solar plants
Gujarat government, lauded by India Inc for being business friendly, has stumped industry as it seeks to back out of the high tariffs contracted for nearly 1,000 mw of solar plants of the Tatas, GMR, Adani, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, Lanco and others. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) has approached the regulator with a plea to reduce tariff from Rs 12.54 per unit to Rs 9 to cut its payment liabilities. Gujarat to bring in offshore wind power policy
Gujarat government is now focusing on tapping offshore wind power generation potential along its coastline. The State has successfully established a solar power generation park in north Gujarat and a series of wind power plants with private companies. Following a positive study report prepared by UK based Atlantis Resources Corporation, the government is now drafting an offshore wind power generation policy that will be announced soon.
