A decision on this was taken at the board of trustees meeting following widespread complaints from port users on high handling charges, forcing them to divert their cargo to neighbouring ports on the coastline.
Panel to study high handling charges in Cochin Port
A sub-committee has been formed to look into high handling charges at Cochin port. Trustees of the Cohin Port Trust (ChPT) who met at Kochi on October 30 decided in this regard. The committee comprises representatives of the community of clearing and forwarding agents, steamer agents, Customs House agents, export organisations, 2 labour trustees of the port as well as secretary of the port and traffic manager.
