Tanzania mandates ECTN for all imports from Sept 1

All import cargoes, including transit cargoes, would be covered by an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) in Tanzania from next September 1. Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), which manages ports in the country, has decided so. This decision results from TPAÂ’s desire to improve control on declared cargo values, the occupation of port facilities and the safety of the ports and the territory, as also to ensure availability of accurate statistics on cargo flows into the country.
