Floating cranes at VOC port

The VO Chidambaranar Port Trust, Tuticorin, has issued a letter of intent (LI) for grant of licence for deployment of floating cranes at the port´s water limits for 10 years for handling cargo in vessels at the anchorage, transport of cargo through barges and handling cargo at shore. The port trust has issued the LI to Seaport Logistics.

Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) received its largest cargo carrying ship till date, the MV Dhun, on 2 February. The ship brought around 1,04,000 tonne of cargo. MPT-Æs Chairman P Mara Pandiyan congratulated all the crew members of the ship for their efforts in bringing the large vessel into the port.

CCEA approves five port expansion projects

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved five projects involving an investment of over Rs 17,630 crore to increase the capacity of major ports, a government release said. ADB approves road projects in Phailin hit area

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved Rs 966.75 crore for 484 new road projects to be implemented across 14 districts of Odisha hit by tropical cyclone Phailin and subsequent floods. A total road network of 1,790.37 km will be established in the 14 affected districts. The assistance has been approved by ADB under the third tranche of Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for 2013-14.

A consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects (51:49) has bagged a Rs 318-crore road project from the Karnataka government. The project involves improvement of 110 km of stretch. The consortium (51:49) had submitted bid for the project involving design, build, finance, operate, maintain and transfer (DBFOMT) of the state highway from Mudhol to Maharashtra Border.
