India and ADB sign $80 million loan agreement

Shipyard industry gets infra status
The government has granted infrastructure status to the shipyard industry in a boost to its Make in India initiative. The move is expected to bring down borrowing costs for the industry. At present, companies pay average interest of 14-15 per cent on their borrowings.
PPP projects 33percentage of total capacity of major ports-CAG
PPP projects have contributed only 33 per cent to toital capacity of major ports up to March 2014, thereby defeating the purpose of the PPP model, CAG has said.
PSUs should not be treated as an extended arm of the government
The public sector was set up on the premise of economic development with social justice. To build strong infrastructure for the country and to meet social objectives, PSUs were established in backward regions and employed a large number of people ù 25 lakh people till 1989.

City infrastructure to be restructured
The Meerut Development Authority (MDA) has plans to restructure the city´s infrastructure to make way for the Meerut Metro, which officials say will be operational by 2022.
Closing infra gap with China
The shortcomings of India´s infrastructure are often lamented. But statistical aggregates suggest that the South Asian nation has caught up to - or even surpassed - China in some respects. In other areas, it is not far behind.

Clearly, the government had saved the best for the last, with a flurry of policy decisions at the year end. Infrastructure is clearly in for better times in 2016. The year 2015 was generally a positive one for the economy, although bumpy.
