BHEL has bagged an order from the TN government to set up the state´s first 800 MW thermal power plant. The North Chennai Supercritical TPS Stage III is located in Thiruvallur district. The letter of award for the project was handed by CM Jayalalithaa to Atul Sobti, Chairman & MD, BHEL.

TN power transmission corridor to be set up
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa made a series of announcements covering energy, transport and Adi Dravidar welfare sectors running into several crores of rupees.
TN sanctions Rs 2,950 cr for road works
In Tamil Nadu, more than 2,400 road works will be undertaken across the state at a cost of Rs 2,950 crore as part of the Integrated Road Development programme. The State Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on July 24 ordered the allocation for the works that would improve connectivity, besides reducing fuel consumption and travel time. The allocation for this fiscal was higher – Rs 2,262 crore was set aside last financial year.
L&T’s Kattupalli port to begin exim activities on June 6
In Tamil Nau, the Larsen and ToubroÂ’s Kattupalli Port is all set to commence import as well as export activities for industry on June 6. The port recorded the first successful trial run of imported goods on April 18. Inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on January 30, the Rs 3,800-crore project is jointly floated by L&T and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
Chennai to have 45-km elevated road to ease traffic jams
To ease traffic congestion in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on April 1 announced a slew of road projects, including an elevated road between Taramani and Mamallapuram. The elevated road is to ease traffic congestion caused by the proliferation of IT companies, educational institutions and skyscrapers.
