Gumla DPC in Jharkhand clears development works
In Jharkhand's Gumla district, the District Planning Committee (DPC) has cleared various schemes worth Rs 66 crore for the annual action plan under the Backward Region Grant Fund on August 10. Several development projects came up for discussion at the meeting, presided over by Gumla MLA Kamlesh Oraon. The project discussed include road connectivity, bridges and irrigation projects and 32 urban expansion plans around PCC road.
Koderma-Giridih railway track opened in Jharkhand
Jharkhand Chief Minister BabulalMarandi on June 25 flagged off the first passenger train between Koderma and Nawadih on Koderma-Nawadih-Giridih railway track under Dhanbad division. The railway network - the foundation stone for which was laid by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2005 - will help people of Koderma, Domchanch, Markacho, Maheshpu and Nawadih. The Rs 371.36-crore Koderma-Giridih track project, covering 111 km, was sanctioned and supposed to be commissioned by 2005-06.
Norms to be relaxed for road developers in Naxal-hit areas
The Union government has decided to relax norms for road developers in extremist-hit states such as Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh in view of security threat and slow execution of projects in these areas, an official said. The development follows completion of barely 2,300 km of roads in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas till date out of proposed 5,477 km till 2012.
Jamshedpur’s key road project to begin on PPP model
In Jharkhand's Jamshedpur, the Eastern Road Corridor Project would soon begin on a public private partnership (PPP) with Jharkhand government and Tata Steel as participants. The State Chief Secretary RS Sharma, who chaired a high-level meeting comprising officials from both the State government and Tata Steel major in Ranchi, said the project should start soon in the industrial city to ease traffic with Ranchi and other neighbouring states, the release said quoting him.
IL&FS ties-up with NHAI for Rs 1,665 cr project in 2 states
Infrastructure firm IL&FS Transportation on May 9 said it has signed a pact with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for Rs 1,665 crore road project in Jharkhand and West Bengal. The company said that the concession agreement for six-laning of Barwa-Adda-Panagarh section of NH 2 was signed between NHAI and Barwa-Adda Expressway, a subsidiary of the company incluidng Panagarh bypass.
RINL seeks ore mine for proposed steel project
Jharkhand government received a request from the state-run Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) for allocating the over 2,600 acre Ghatkuri iron ore mine, located at the West Singhbhum district. The company wants the mine, which is estimated to have 600 million tonne reserves, for its proposed 3 million tonne per annum (mn tpa) steel plant
Govt sets up panel for revision of royalty

IL&FS bids for Barwa-Adda-Panagarh h’way stretch
IL&FS Transportation Networks has stated that the company has submitted a bid with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for six-laning of Barwa-Adda-Panagarh Section of NII-2 from km 398.240 to km 521.120 including Panagarh Bypass in Jharkhand and West Bengal under NHDP Phase V to be executed on DBFOT basis.
