Jindal Steel to invest Rs.20,000 cr in power
In a bid to take the generation capacity to 8,600 MW in the next five years, Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) is looking to invest about Rs 20,000 crore in its power business.
Jindal power to expand
Jindal Power (JPL), the energy wing of Jindal Steel & Power which owns and operates a 1,000 MW (4x250) thermal power station in Tamnar, Chhattisgarh, is taking up an expansion project at an estimated cost of Rs 13,500 crore.
Jindal Power projects in Arunachal face hindrances
In Arunachal Pradesh, the three hydro power projects of more than 5,000 mw capacity, undertaken by Naveen JindalÂ’s Jindal Power (JPL), are likely to take at least 10 more years to get commissioned. This is mainly on account of delays in getting regulatory approvals and funding. The proposed run-of-the-river projects, with envisaged investments of nearly Rs 50,000 crore, include the 3,097 mw Etalin project, the 680 mw Attunli project and the 1,600 mw project at middle Subansiri.
Jindal, IL&FS keen to partner NMDC for UP power plant
Jindal Power and IL&FS Energy Development Company have individually evinced interest to partner NMDC in setting up a 2X250 mw thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore. Jindal Power and IL&FS Energy Development Company have shown interest to be a joint venture partner of NMDC for its proposed power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
Customs duty waiver to power projects
On the basis of a provisional certificate issued by the Finance Ministry, duty-free import of power equipment by mega power project developers is set to be allowed qualifying the developers for a waiver.
