Kerala Public Works Department is mulling to come up with its State Road Policy to develop a sustainable road network which would meet the traffic requirements of the future. Draft of the policy will be an improvised version of the one prepared four years back. The formulation of Kerala Road Policy will be discussed at the high-level meet of PWD officials.

Work begins on Rs 108 cr flyover in Kochi
For the Rs 108-crore Edappally flyover project in Kochi, preparatory works have started. The Kerala Public Works Department (PWD) has begun the land levelling work. The three-month preparatory work will also include the construction of two service roads and new bridges on either side of the existing Edappally canal bridge.
Kannur to seek funds from PWD for road works
Facing shortage of funds for road works, the Kannur municipal body is to seek funds from the Kerala Public Works Department. The municipal body wants to take up Rs 28 crore pipe-laying work which is expected to take six months. After the pipeline work, the road repair would cost around Rs 26 crore. But the municipality has no fund to repair the roads.

Kerala PWD resumes road works in Kochi
The Kerala Public Works Department (PWD) has resumed resurfacing of roads in Kochi. PWD had abandoned the road patching works before the monsoon and now again it has taken up the work as the monsoon is coming to an end. Priority has been given to restoring roads within the city limits. Potholes on roads in the suburbs would be filled within a fortnight, said the PWD engineers.
