Cargo vessels at Old Mlore port ground since Sep 15
Since last September 15, at least 55 cargo vessels that operate from Old Mangalore Port to Lakshadweep are idling. Failure on the part of the department of ports to carry out an annual inspection of vessels has meant they are berthed at the port, and not able to ply to Lakshadweep.
Vessel agents plea for effective cargo traffic
The Sailing Vessel Agents and Shipment Contractors Welfare Association has stated that traditional cargo traffic via sea from Beypore in Kerala to Lakshadweep should be made more prompt and effective with the coming of Id-ul-Azha.

Proposed wharf project may cost Rs 44.5 cr
The proposed wharf project at at Mangalore Old Port is estimated to cost around Rs 44.5 crore, Lakshadweep MP Muhammad Hamdullah Sayeed informed reporters.
