The Bhilai Steel Plant's turnover for the last April-September period is Rs 8,406 crore and the Profit Before Tax (PBT) earned by the company is Rs 940 crore, said the Union Minister of Steel Beni Prasad Verma in Lok Sabha on December 9. The company is being expanded at Rs 17,266 crore, he added.

India's new land acquisition Bill, praised in some quarters and reviled in others, is a complex piece of legislation. It was passed by the Lok Sabha (29 August) and by the Rajya Sabha (5 September) as well.
OMCs float tender for 133 cr litre Ethanol
The Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Marpadi Veerappa Moily informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply recently that the government has further decided on last July 3 that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will procure ethanol from domestic sources to achieve the mandatory requirement of 5 per cent ethanol blending with petrol by October, 2013 in areas/parts of the country where sufficient quantity of ethanol is available.
Scindia seeks gas supply to power generation at lower rate
The Ministry of Power has submitted its views on the recently approved price formula for domestic gas, saying that a base price beyond 5$/mmbtu will be unviable for the power sector in the present context, said Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in a written reply in the Lok Sabha recently.
New terminal building at Port Blair Airport by Mar 2018
The Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation KC Venugopal recently told the Lok Sabha that the projected date of completion of new terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair is December, 2017 and is scheduled for commissioning by March, 2018.
Govt takes up modernisation of airports
The Union government, as part of its modernisation and upgradation of airports has constructed new terminal buildings of airports at Kolkata, Chennai, Ranchi, Raipur, Puducherry, Bhubaneshwar and Jaisalmer (Civil Enclave), said the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal in the Lok Sabha on August 22.
Profits of major ports decline, Govt to cut manpower
Taking note of reduction in the profits of its 12 major ports in the country, the government of India has taken several steps to reduce costs. As a cost cutting measure, the Centre wants to reduce surplus manpower through the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). The Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan said this in the Lok Sabha recently. Profit of major ports declined by about 30 per cent to Rs 1,220.61 crore in 2012-13 over the previous fiscal, Vasan said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
National housing policy includes rental aspect also
The Union Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) Girija Vyas told the Lok Sabha recently that the National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy, 2007 (NUHHP) includes the aspect of rental housing in the area for specific action. The NUHHP, 2007 has taken note of the difference between demand and supply for housing and endeavors to assist the poorest of poor who cannot afford to pay the entire price of a house by providing them access to reasonably good housing on rental and ownership
